Import & Export Images

Postby James149 on Mon Aug 31, 2009

Harry,
Is there a way to export with images?

Also, when I have added some images (especially larger ones) they show up extremely small (you cannot really see them).

Thanks

Could you send me one such image for testing please.

When you say 'export' do you mean as a backup? Snapshots are saved in backups. Where else are you exporting to?

Harry,
I was trying to export the entire recipe and images using the MLrecipe format. I am just trying to come up with away so that in the future if something happens another software would be able to read my recipes. I have uploaded the test picture.

(oh, just to let you know in 1.32 when you tab over the first measurement it still vanishes, you probably know that though :) ) I do not mean to be complaining, but the selection of the ingredients seems to be a little slower than it was before. I guess that if probably a trade-off of the new process. Is there a way that can be faster? :thanks:

Actually the delay is intentional. The lookup isn't started until 1 second after you finish typing (to save looking up lots of ingredients in a short space of time).

The image hasn't uploaded, you could you try http://imageshack.us please?

Harry,
I uploaded the image to:

That is good to know about the time delay, I guess I will have to be patient :)

That is one amazing looking chocolate banana cake. I've tried a few different caption lengths, but I can't reproduce it in the current version (1.37 - due for release very soon). This is what I get:

Could you give it a try please and see if you get the same?

ChickenPing 1.37 beta: http://chickenping.com/releases/chicken ... -setup.zip
You should be able to install over the top and not back up the database, but make a backup just incase.

I also demand the immediate delivery of the cake pictured! ;-)

Harry,
This is what I see when I add an image:

To add I just go to edit, browse, add the image then save. Hmm, I wonder what is going on.

Also, it may be nice to be able to have the option of dragging or pasting the image in, instead of having to browse.

Thanks,
James

Very strange. Does it happen with all photos?

Added in 1.3.7

Harry,
I am back :) It does not do it with all pictures, but some. I also notice, when I mouse over the picture to view it full size it looks perfect. On some of the pictures that do not get "small", when I mouse over to view full screen it is much much clearer (the small version is very blury).

Thanks!

That's because if you upload a huge image, it will be resized and the algorithm isn't particularly good at resizing.

Harry,
Is there a way to improve the downsizing of the images?

Also, when tabbing over the g measurement on the caster sugar it still gets removed (it does not on the others. Have you found out why that happens?

I have still been fooling around with the images and cannot seem to find out why one or two of them shows up really small, and some are fine.

Thanks,
Jamie

I believe this to be a bug with the datagrid control from XCeed. I think the behaviour is better than it was, but the first time you add/edit an ingredient, if you use a custom measurement it won't save. Subsequent edits should work, but it still glitches at seemingly random times.

The partial fix is in 1.4.2.
