Per-site option to ignore protocols and common prefixes

Postby agent009 on Sat Nov 01, 2008

Harry,

Could you add a per-account option for websites to ignore the difference between HTTP/HTTPS/FTP protocols and disregard presence/absence off www. and ftp. prefixes when using credentials for auto-fill in Firefox Extension as well as importing passwords.

I think it should be on by default since in most instances (as far as the use of logon credentials goes) the user and the site don't really care over which protocol a site is accessed and I have yet to see the case where http://www.somesite.com and ftp://ftp.somesite.com would not be synonymous to http://somesite.com and ftp://somesite.com respectively.

In some cases however the differences could be significant (especially when you don't want to submit certain credentials over unencrypted channels).
